While our company’s history may be old and dated, our approach to technology isn’t. Scott-Woods is known as one of the most technologically advanced specialized trucking fleets in Canada.
While other fleets may look at technology as an “added cost”, our view of technology is much different. At Scott-Woods, we believe that technology is a necessity and we embrace its use in every facet of our business.
We employ many different systems and technologies at Scott-Woods to ensure that our customers receive the utmost in convenience and service. Recently, we have implemented a state-of-the-art satellite and communication system for our entire fleet. Each truck is tracked via the GPS satellite system in 5 minute intervals (versus other systems which track vehicles anywhere from hourly to once a day) which provides our dispatchers with up to date, real time information. All communication with the truck is in real time as well via wireless data networks. Among the many features of our system are automated e-mail notifications of pickup and delivery status. At our customers request, they can receive pickup and delivery notifications via e-mail within minutes of the actual pickup/delivery being made, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our investment in technology is based around two common goals, to create internal efficiencies which serve to drive down our costs (and ultimately our customer’s cost) and second, to provide value-added services to our customers that improve their own internal efficiencies. We view our investment in technology as an investment in the success of our customers and we act upon this belief in everything we do at Scott-Woods.
